The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations

By supplying your name and address details to us via this web site, you are agreeing that we may contact you using our preferred method - usually email - for business purposes at any time. You may, at any time, opt out of this by contacting us with your details via any route shown on this site and asking us to refrain from contacting you.

We do not sell or pass on this information to third parties.

We reserve the right to use cookies as an anonymous method of recording your usage of our site and would ask that if you do not wish to have cookies recorded on your machine, you amend the settings on your browser to prevent them from being created.

Use of Cookies on our site

A cookie is a text-only string of information that a website transfers to the cookie file of the browser on your computer's hard disk so that the website can remember who you are.

A cookie will typically contain the name of the domain from which the cookie has come, the "lifetime" of the cookie, and a value, usually a randomly generated unique number.

Two types of cookies may be used on this website:

Session Cookies

These are temporary cookies that remain in the cookie file of your browser until you leave the site

Persistent Cookies

These remain in the cookie file of your browser for much longer (though how long will depend on the lifetime of the specific cookie)

Cookies can help a website to arrange content to match your preferred interests more quickly. Most major websites use cookies. Cookies cannot be used by themselves to identify you.

How we use Cookies on our Site and what information do we collect

Session Cookies

  • To allow you to carry information across pages of our site and avoid having to re-enter information
  • To allow you to maintain a shopping basket
  • Within registration to allow you to access stored information

Persistent Cookies

  • To help us recognise you as a unique visitor (just a number) when you return to our website and to allow us to tailor content to match your preferred interests
  • To compile anonymous, aggregated statistics that allow us to understand how users use our site and to help us improve the structure of our website. We cannot identify you personally in this way

Third Party Cookies

Third parties also serve cookies via this site. On many of our pages you will see social buttons that enable you, among other functions, to share our web pages. For these buttons to work, the services to which they apply will be collecting information. Therefore you may wish to check the respective privacy policies of each service to see how they use your information and to find out how to opt out or delete it. We also use external web services, for example YouTube, to show videos, and such embedded content will also be collecting information on your usage. If you are not logged in to these services, only anonymous data will be collected. Third-party cookies are used for the following purposes:

  • To tailor content to your preferences
  • To count the number of anonymous users of our site
  • To provide security within shopping baskets or transactions

For more information about cookies, visit www.aboutcookies.org. If you do not agree with the use of cookies, then we would ask you not to use the site or the information provided within it.

Disabling/Enabling Cookies

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies by modifying the settings in your browser. However, you may not be able to use all the interactive features of our site if cookies are disabled.

What can I do to manage cookies stored on my computer?

There are a number of ways to manage cookies. If you use different computers in different locations you will need to ensure that each browser is adjusted to suit your cookie preferences.

Some modern browsers have a feature that will analyse website privacy policies and allow a user to control their privacy needs. These are known as "P3P" features (Privacy Preferences Platform). Find further information on P3P here.

You can delete any cookies that have been installed in the cookie folder of your browser. See your browser's Help documentation for information on how to do this.

Use of Web Beacons

Some of our web pages may contain electronic images known as Web Beacons (also known as clear GIFs) that allow us to count users who have visited these pages. Web beacons collect only limited information, such as a cookie number, time and date of a page view, and a description of the page on which the beacon resides.

Email tracking

Most emails that we send you have no tracking in at all, however the newsletter emails sent to registered subscribers do contain tracking so that we can tell how much traffic the newsletter sends to our site. This data is not anonymous, so we can tell if someone has opened and clicked within the email. We rarely use this information at a personal level, but if you do not wish to be tracked, you can Unsubscribe from the newsletter mailing list yet still enjoy our news by reading it anonymously online here.

Payment processing

In order to process payments online and over the telephone, we will require an invoice address for the credit card used. This and the card's details will be passed to our external payment processors. We do not retain the card's details once payment has been made, only the invoice address to comply with our legal obligations.

Please contact us should you wish to clarify any points.
