iGuide™: High Power Laser Delivery Mid-IR Fibres

Offering exceptional optical and mechanical properties

IRphotonics has built on its mid-infrared expertise to develop fibres especially designed for delivering high power laser beams in the mid-infrared waveband. Made of fluoride glass, they offer exceptional optical and mechanical properties.

Applications

  • Surgery & Dermatology
  • Mass Spectrometry
  • Aerospace & Defence

H100 Small Core Fibre (NEW)

The new small core High Power Multimode mid-infrared fibre has been designed for Medical, Industrial and R&D applications. It offers a spectral transmission from 0.3 to 4.5 µm with low attenuation and no spectral absorption peak and the small core enables high power handling over small bend radius from a wide range of lasers such as Er:Yag (2.94µm), Semiconductor Lasers (QCL), Solid State Lasers or Tunable MWIR lasers (OPO).

Features
  • Spectral transmission from 0.3 to 4.5 µm
  • Low attenuation: No significant spectral absorption peaks up to 4.5 µm
  • Fiber core diameter 100 µm
  • Dual clad for higher power handling
  • Numerical aperture: 0.2 (0.3 or other NA possible on demand)
  • High laser damage threshold
  • Bend insensitive down to 1"

HPF: High Power Fiber

HPF’s unique characteristics provide a higher transmission in the mid-infrared than competing technologies, especially at Er:YAG (2.94µm), Er,Cr:YSGG (2.78 µm) or Tunable Mid-IR OPO wavelengths. In addition, IRphotonics HPF fiber transmits visible light from pointing lasers very efficiently.

The standard HPF fiber features a 450 micron core that provides the ideal trade-off between mechanical flexibility and high coupling efficiency.

FeaturesSpecifications
  • Highest transmission in the mid-IR
  • Ideal for single/multiple wavelengths or tunable lasers
  • Exceptional mechanical flexibility
  • High mechanical flexibility
  • Low-loss in the visible
  • Connectorized assemblies available
Attenuation:< 0.1 dB/m at 2.9 µm
Numerical Aperture:  0.20 ± 0.02
Core Diameter:450 µm typical
Fresnel Losses:  4 % per end face
