FIP-400 Intelligent Fibre Inspection

A dirty and/or damaged optical fibre is a common and avoidable problem, and EXFO's intelligent fibre inspection solutions are designed to simplify and speed this task. Proper connector inspection is an essential best practice.

Dirty connector The solution comprises an inspection probe linked to a display platform. The former provides a crisp magnified digital image of connector endfaces, over a Wi-Fi or USB connection, to a handheld test set with display for combined applications, a modular platform for advanced multitesting, a PC or laptop for labs, or even an Android™ smartphone or tablet for even more flexibility. Special analysis software helps ensure connectors and adaptors are clean and free of any defect, removing the risk of misinterpretation.

EXFO FLS-2200 Broadband Source

The high-power SLED-based FLS-2200 Broadband Source covers all the bands needed for telecommunications applications. It provides a broader spectral range and more spectral density in a singlemode fibre than a white light source. The highly stable FLS-2200 is ideal for broadband applications, CWDM network testing, CWDM and PON component manufacturing and testing, as well as fibre-optic sensing and spectroscopy.
 
For CWDM testing, the dual-SLED option, covering the S, C and L bands, enables accurate characterisation of fibre links and their passive components, with a very cost-effective test setup. Use the 1300/1550 nm source for dual-window couplers and for PON components.

EXFO FLS-2800 Integrated Tuneable Laser Assembly

The FLS-2800 is a continuous wave (CW) tuneable laser with a high-power output, narrow 100 kHz linewidth and 10 pm resolution tunability over the C or L band. This laser offers a cost-effective and versatile solution for various applications, including coherent/orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission and WDM network emulation. The FLS-2800 is available in single- or dual-laser configurations.
 
The FLS-2800 is easy to directly control using the knob on the front panel. Each laser is controlled separately, and both wavelength and power can be adjusted quickly and precisely. It is also possible to view the status of and control the FLS-2800 remotely via the USB or Ethernet ports by means of EXFO's TLM user interface.

The new versatile FVA-3800 is currently the most compact optical variable attenuator on the market. It is rugged and reliable, and the ideal attenuator for BER testing and system verification in the lab or a demanding manufacturing environment.

EXFO designed the LTK-1 for performance, giving it an 85 dB range, fast stabilisation times, and the ability to simultaneously measure high and low signals on up to four channels. EXFO OSA High Performance Optical Spectrum Analyser

EXFO's new OSA20 is the fastest optical spectrum analyser of its kind. With a maximum sweep speed of 2000 nm/s, it uses a fixed monochromator bandwidth of 20 pm and a fixed sampling resolution of 2 pm for all scans delivery every measurement at the highest resolution with the highest accuracy. Sweep speed is determined solely by the choice of the sensitivity level: -55 dBm at 2000 nm/s down to -90 dBm by averaging over 380 scans with HIGH at 0.5 nm/s.

The instrument's monochromator utilises a renowned filter technology with a 20 pm bandwidth, steep edges and low stray light. Power is integrated over 2 pm steps resulting in 225,001 data points for a 450 nm span. This allows for DWDM channel analysis down to 6.25 GHz spacing. The OSA20 has a high wavelength accuracy over the full wavelength range with ± 10 pm specified over 1500-1640 nm.

A large twelve inch capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch gesture control allows very fast navigation, scrolling and zooming in an intuitive manner. Keyboard and mouse control are also available through USB interfaces.

EXFO T100S-HP High Power Tuneable Laser Source

EXFO recently introduced a most advanced and cost-effective high power and tuneable laser solution for R&D. With guaranteed signal to source spontaneous emission ratio higher than 100 dB, the T100S-HP range features 6 tuneable lasers to cover the entire wavelength range from 1240 to 1680 nm:

  • /O+: 1240-1380 nm
  • /O: 1260-1360 nm
  • /ES: 1350-1510 nm
  • /SCL: 1440-1640 nm
  • /CL: 1500-1630 nm
  • /CLU: 1500-1680 nm

The /O and /CL lasers have 10 dBm minimum output power and are dedicated to the main telecom applications, while the /O+, /ES, /SCL and /CLU lasers have 8 dBm minimum output power and the largest wavelength ranges available on the market. Thus making it possible to cover the full telecom wavelength band from 1240 to 1680 nm at 8 dBm with just 3 lasers. This is done by combining the /O+, /ES and /CLU lasers.

The XFA tunable filter is an economic alternative to the XTA-50 (below) if you only need wavelength tuning at a fixed bandwidth. The bandwidth of the XFA is factory set to a value in the 50 to 800 pm range chosen by the customer.

The XFA offers the same features as the XTA-50 except for the bandwidth adjustment. The extremely sharp edges ensure a clean cut between the signal and the adjacent channels or noise, while the flat-top square shape ensures data integrity.

XTA-50 Automatic Tuneable Filter with Adjustable Bandwidth

The new XTA-50 tuneable filter is fast becoming the reference tool for channel selection, or even sub-band extraction, thanks to its adjustable bandwidth in combination with very steep edges.

Electronically controlled, the centre wavelength and bandwidth can both be set precisely and independently. The instrument covers all key wavelengths from 1260 to 1650 nm, and bandwidths from 32 pm (4 GHz) to 5 nm. Three versions are available:

  • Standard version: 50 pm (6.25 GHz) to 950 pm (120 GHz) with 500 dB/nm
  • Ultrafine version: 32 pm (4 GHz) to 650 pm (80 GHz) with 800 dB/nm
  • Wide version: 50 pm (6.25 GHz) to 5000 pm (625 GHz) with 500 dB/nm

The extremely sharp edges ensure a clean cut between the signal and the adjacent channels or noise, while the flat-top square shape ensures data integrity. The filters offer the highest selectivity available on the market, allows for many new fibre-optic transmission experiments and, for efficient operation, it has a user-friendly touch screen interface with four menus:

The XTM-50 tuneable filter is the perfect tool for laboratory use. Its optical performance is identical to the XTA-50 (above) as it is based on the same optical system. The wavelength tuning and bandwidth adjustment are manual through micrometers. All versions of the XTA-50 have their manual equivalent in the XTM-50 family

The centre wavelength and bandwidth can both be set independently, and the instrument covers all key wavelengths from 1260 to 1650 nm, and bandwidths from 32 pm (4 GHz) to 5 nm in different versions.
