| Laser Type | Nd:YAG |
| Optimal Wavelength | 532 nm |
| Damage Threshold | 5 J/cm2 for 20 nS pulses at 1064 nm 2 MW/cm2 |

| Substrate | Crystal quartz |
| Diameter | 12.7 mm (½") |
| Wedge | ≤ 5 arc seconds |
| Tolerance | λ/350 ± 150 at 23 °C |

| AR Coating | Vee-coated (R ≤ 0.25%) both sides |
The drawback of multiple-order waveplates is the rapid change in retardation as the wavelength varies. For a small change in Δλ (or equivalent change in temperature), the multi-order waveplate shows a large transmission change ΔTmulti. By contrast, the change in retardation of the zero-order plate is very slow, so the same Δλ gives a much smaller change, ΔTzero
