Full environmental Control for Every Imaging Platform
The AIROBOX is a stage top incubator, which allows the control of sample temperature between 10°C and 45°C as a standalone unit and up to 100°C in combination with VAHEAT. Besides temperature, the carbon dioxide and humidity levels inside the sample chamber can be actively controlled. The system is optimized for live cell imaging experiments and single molecule studies by preventing drifts, vibrations or any other degradation in imaging quality, even in super resolution microscopy applications.
Full remote control and readout of the sensors allow simple automation of your experimental workflows and precise tracking of the physical parameters. Its compact design and simple use renders the AIROBOX to be the ideal solution for studying temperature-sensitive dynamics.
The AiroBox features a modular design that can be tailored to your specific setup and experimental requirements. The AiroBox consists of three key components, the stage top, the objective collar and the control unit.
1. The stage top
The stage top is designed to ensure best control of the environmental conditions around your sample. The stages top can be easily mounted on various 2D stages and z-piezo systems stages due to its modular adapter design.

2. The objective collar
The AiroBox includes a versatile objective collar that easily wraps around any standard objective. Combined with a built – in temperature probe and localized heating and cooling circuit, it minimizes temperature gradients caused by heat sinks or hotspots – ensuring a uniform thermal environment between the objective and the sample.

3. The control unit
The control unit is the central hub of the AiroBox system. It houses all electronics, manages precise gas mixing between externally supplied pressurized nitrogen (N₂) or compressed air, oxygen (O₂), and carbon dioxide (CO₂), and integrates a high-performance, ultra-low-vibration cooling circuit. This advanced cooling capability allows for reliable super-resolution imaging at, and even below, room temperature, independent of ambient lab conditions.

The Software (available soon)
The AiroBox is controlled via USB, providing an intuitive interface for setting up and monitoring environmental parameters through our software. All key parameters are displayed on a single page, allowing for easy observation and adjustment of setpoints. Additionally, data streaming to your computer enables seamless synchronization of sensor readings with your camera frames.
