IXF Series Flexure Mounts
A monolithic flexure mount range for optics up to 4" in diameter
This popular series of IXF optical flexure mounts from Siskiyou Corporation offer exceptional stability at a low price point. Performance is achieved through the use of a monolithic construction, in which the entire mount – both plates and springs – are fabricated from a single piece of metal.
This unique flexure configuration yields improved heat transfer through the mount over the traditional kinematic constructions, resulting in significantly better pointing stability in the presence of temperature changes.
The IXF range is available in either aluminium, stainless or nickel-plated steel. Steel construction offers superior mechanical and thermal stability, while aluminium confers lower weight and vacuum compatibility.
In vacuum applications, the monolithic construction of the mount ensures no blind holes or other places in which gas or volatiles can be trapped; therefore eliminating the potential for outgassing.
The IXF series monolithic tip/tilt flexure mounts are specifically designed for OEM applications. They have a wide variety of optic mounting options, including bulkhead mounting as either a front adjusted or through the bulkhead adjusted mount.
In addition, these versions have M4 (8-32) mounting holes on two edges for post mounting and locks on the adjustment screws.
IXF Top Adjust
The IXF Top Adjust series monolithic tip/tilt flexure mounts are specifically designed for OEM applications. Top adjust versions have a novel actuating mechanism to eliminate rotational torque being applied to the axis under adjustment.
Designed to be either panel or bracket-mounted; Siskiyou flexures provide the ultimate in stability, even in challenging environments.
The monolithic construction results in substantially better heat conduction from one side of the component to the other, for quicker response to changes in temperature. (US Patent No. 8,925,409)
IXF Beamsplitter Standard & Top Adjust
This variation of the IXF incorporates clear aperture cut-outs to maximise beam clearance for beamsplitter applications. These cut-outs are set at 45°, and are large enough to accommodate a maximum beam diameter of 6.4 mm at angle variations of ±3°.
These mounts use 100 tpi rolled thread adjustment screws for low stiction fine adjustments, and are swaged at the end to prevent overtravel of the mount.
IXF Single Axis Platforms
Siskiyou offer a choice of two IXF-based platforms, each containing an arrangement of both threaded and clearance M4 (or 8-32) holes on both sides. This enables them to be mounted directly onto Siskiyou translation stages and baseplates. Various optical components or other accessories can then be affixed to the reverse.
The IXF.05S is a single-axis ½" square flexure with one M4 (8-32) tapped hole for mounting, as well as one on the top for attachment. It also includes two counterbored holes that can be accessed from the top for mounting to Siskiyou .25dt dovetail and .5cr crossed roller stages for additional coarse alignment.
On the edge of this mount are tapped holes that correspond with clearance counterbores that are accessed from the bottom.
The IXF1.0S is a larger one inch square version with seven tapped and two counterbored holes.
IXF Single Axis Mirror Mounts
Siskiyou offer the IXF SA series single axis mirror mounts for optics in the 12.7 to 50.8 mm (½" to 2") diameter range for OEMs.
A variety of mounting configurations are available, including bulkhead placement with either front or rear (through the bulkhead) adjustment options, making the mounts particularly useful for space constrained applications.
The mounts are available in both steel and aluminium versions.
The IXF range benefits from a number of accessories designed for solid base mounting, preventing unwanted rotation and lateral movement of some stages, while wedge-shaped blocks enable 45° mounting of flexures for periscope beam steering configurations. Foil locking kits are also available for some models.
